Formation (January 1, 1995): The lodge was officially chartered following the council consolidation that created the Lincoln Heritage Council. It was a merger between Tseyedin Lodge #65 (George Rogers Clark Area Council) and Zit-Kala-Sha Lodge #123 (Old Kentucky Home Council). [1]
Location & Council: a former local chapter of the Order of the Arrow (the National Honor Society of Scouting America, formerly Boy Scouts of America) centered in Louisville, Kentucky
Dissolution (January 1, 2013): After an 18-year run, Talligewi Lodge #62 officially dissolved due to another major council-wide alignment. It merged with White Horse Lodge #201 to form the current, active Nguttitehen Lodge #205. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Meaning and Totem: The lodge's symbol and totem was a Mandan Indian.
The Lore: The name Talligewi refers to an ancient, legendary Native American tribe. Local lore associated them with the historic Battle of Sand Island, fought at the Falls of the Ohio River between Louisville, Kentucky, and Clarksville, Indiana. [1]
